A U.S. judge has ruled that Elon Musk’s America PAC can proceed with awarding $1 million (£722,000) each day to voters in swing states until Election Day. Musk’s political group announced the awards were not randomly selected, as previously assumed, but were instead chosen by the PAC.
The decision follows a lawsuit by Philadelphia District Attorney Lawrence Krasner, who argued the awards constituted an illegal lottery. Judge Angelo Foglietta declined to halt the payments, though he didn’t immediately provide reasons for the ruling.
Each recipient serves as a “spokesperson” for the PAC and signs a non-disclosure agreement. The final award will go to a voter from Michigan, while Monday’s recipient was announced as Joshua from Arizona.
Musk, who has publicly endorsed former President Donald Trump, was not present at the hearing. Meanwhile, Musk appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast on Monday, where Rogan announced his own endorsement for Trump in the upcoming election.
